Abseiling / Canyoning - Empress FallsThe ideal introduction to canyoning. This is a combined abseiling course and canyon trip which teaches the necessary skills to tackle harder and longer canyons such as Claustral and Serendipity. It's not hard to see why this trip is so popular. Learn the fundamentals of abseiling in the morning with a range of abseils in height from 2.5 to 25 metres. After a delicious picnic lunch you put your newly acquired skills to use in the exciting and action-packed Empress Falls Canyon. Scrambling, wading, swimming and jumping leads to a thrilling climax - a 30 metre abseil straight down a pounding waterfall into a deep pool. The 20 minute walk out is on a well formed walking track with magnificent views of the Jamison Valley. Suitable for people with no prior experience in canyoning or abseiling. Participants must be able to swim and have an average fitness level. Tours held any day of the year on demand. Abseiling / Canyoning - GrandAn ideal introduction to canyoning. During the morning, participants learn to abseil at our exclusive North Boyce abseiling venue. You get stacks of abseils on a variety of drops from 3 metres to 25 metres. The afternoon trip through Grand Canyon is the highlight of the day. The fun starts with a 20 metre overhanging abseil, followed by swimming, scrambling and wading. Longer than Empress Falls canyon, the beauty and serenity of this canyon will surprise you, with ferny glades and towering rock walls providing a spectacular setting. The walk out takes about 35 minutes through temperate rainforest, finishing at Evans Lookout with a spectacular view of the Grose Valley. Abseiling Boars Head ExpeditionOverlooking the Megalong Valley and Narrow Neck plateau this tour involves descending a large cliffline (approx 200m) of the upper Blue Mountains in a series of 'pitches'. No experience is necessary but be ready for some exposure to heights! This 5 pitch expedition boasts some exciting abseiling as you straddle & then descend into the massive chasm that forms the second and third pitches. The rainforest bushwalk through the historic Devil's Hole takes you back to the cliff top. Canyoning - ButterboxA spectacular canyon with superb rock architecture. This great action packed trip offers lots of variety with seven exciting abseils and several adrenalin pumping waterjumps! One of the highlights is the two challenging 25 metre abseils straight down a deep dark slot. The second abseil here is off a giant chockstone wedged between the canyon walls. After finishing the canyon it's not over yet, as there is a 15 metre, grade 12 rockclimb to conquer on the way out. You will be safely roped and belayed by our experienced guides on this short exposed section 100 metres above the deck! A great finale to an awesome day. The steep exit walk and climb usually takes 2-3 hours. Butterbox is a challenging, adventurous trip that is as physically demanding as Claustral. Canyoning - ClaustralA beautiful canyon that involves just about every canyoning technique possible. There are several exhilarating abseils straight down waterfalls, swims up to 50 metres, waterjumps and lots of rock scrambling. The stunning scenery of Claustral varies from dark, narrow chasms, to wider open sections where beams of radiant sunlight angle into the subterranean depths, highlighting the luxuriant carpets of hanging ferns and exquisite mosses that decorate the sculptured walls. Blue Mountains Adventure Company had Claustral canyon featured on Channel Nine's “Getaway” in 1997. Visiting Claustral canyon is no stroll in the park. It is a long, hard day. The walkout is steep and strenuous - approx. 2 hours on average - with several short scrambling sections. Claustral is a highly rewarding experience suitable for fit, adventurous people. Canyoning - Fortress CreekFortress Creek Canyon near Leura is a full day canyon. The canyon section of Fortress is preceded by a magnificent trek along a delightful walled-in creek, passing through a variety of habitats from hanging swamp to rainforest. The canyon itself involves some constricted swims between narrow sandstone walls, rock scrambling, waterjumps and an overhanging abseil (suitable for first time abseilers). The canyon ends unexpectedly on the edge of a 100 metre precipice high above the spectacular expanse of the Grose Valley. Relax on a sunny rock shelf as you enjoy your lunch with breathtaking views all around. The walk back takes a little over an hour on average with the first 20 minutes being the steepest. Much of the walk is though open heathland with possibly the best views in the Blue Mountains from the top of the Fortress. Canyoning - SerendipitySerendipity is one of the most delightful of canyons, and is suitable for those with little abseil or canyon experience. Serendipity offers four wet abseils and a heart in your throat waterjump. Although the abseils are not long, they offer passage to the deeper sections of the canyon and the hemmed in nature of the walls and water throughout the abseil sections add to their appeal. Beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife (especially yabbies) also enhance the experience of this canyon. Lunch is enjoyed on a sunny rock platform at the junction of Serendipity and the Wollangambe River. We can exit here or if time permits we can proceed upstream to the Wollangambe exit. The walk out takes about 1 ¼ hours and is steep in places. Canyoning - Sheep Dip / Rocky CreekTwo magnificent canyons rolled into one great trip. There is no abseiling or liloing, but loads of fun, fantastic waterjumps up to 5 metres, waterslides and swims up to 50 metres in length. Sheep Dip canyon consists of a narrow twisting chasm with a chain of pretty pools, natural waterslides and small waterfalls. Sheep Dip finishes with a unique plunge into a circular man hole. After the high rolling action of Sheep Dip, an easy walk through lush rainforest brings us to the majestic Rocky Creek canyon. Much deeper and darker than Sheep Dip, Rocky has a sublime, awe-inspiring atmosphere. Rocky Creek starts with several short, dark swims and climb-downs. After a superb waterslide (can be done face first) the canyon twists and turns with amazing rock walls. Canyoning - Whungee WheengeeDeep, dark and mysterious, Whungee Wheengee is without a doubt one of the very best canyons you'll find anywhere. There are abseils, glowworm lit tunnel swims, rock scrambling, waterjumps and duckunders. A duckunder is where the roof of the canyon comes right down or just above water level, making it necessary to swim underwater for a short distance. Besides the sheer delight and challenge of the activities themselves, Whungee Wheengee offers stunning natural beauty that will take your breath away. The canyon also boasts several sections of fantastic rock architecture, the most spectacular being a 50 metre deep slot that is little more than a metre wide. Shortly after here, Whungee Wheengee joins the much broader expanses of the Lower Wollangambe Canyon. The walk out takes about 1 1/2 hours and is steep in places. Overall, this is a long, hard day, suitable for fit adventurous people who aren't afraid of the dark! Canyoning - WollangambeA full day canyon spent floating on lilos (inflatable airbeds) through long, deep pools. Wollangambe is different from most other canyons, being of a more open, sunny nature. Drifting down this crystal-clear river between the towering rock walls is like a touch of paradise. We pause for lunch on an unspoilt sandy beach. For some added spice try shooting some of the short rapids that link many of the pools. For the more adventurous there are some optional waterjumps off the canyon walls. The steady uphill walk out takes 1 ¼ hours. Introductory AbseilingAbseiling is a challenging, exciting and fun filled activity which can be enjoyed by anyone, from family groups to serious adrenalin junkies, from young to old, anyonecan abseil.
