Bedervale Historic Homestead
Bedervale Homestead was designed by the architect John Verge (who also designed Camden Park at Menangle and Elizabeth Bay House in Sydney) and was built for Captain John Coghill in 1839 on a land grant he selected in 1826 at Braidwood.
The homestead remained in the family until 1973 when it was sold to the present owners who in 1975 arranged for a national estate grant to purchase
the furniture collection. The National Trust of New South Wales was nominated as owners.
Bedervale is one of the finest colonial homesteads in the state, with a magnificent collection of furniture and some interesting out-buildings including a two-
storey barn. Bedervale is a working, grazing property with scenic view to the town of Braidwood, Mount Jillamatong and the coastal range. Tours of the historic homestead available.
