At the end of January, Merino wethers & crossbred ewes are prepared for sale & oat is harvested.
In February paddocks are ploughed & prepared for crop sowing & sheep are drenched.
Sheep are maintained against fly strike in March & more ground is ploughed.
The first Merino lambs arrive in April & lambs are marked & ewes crutched for later shearing.
During May, June & July we sow Tritacalie & wheat, lamb marking & scanning pregnant ewes can be seen. Fences are also maintained during these months & the first lambs & cattle are readied for sale.
In August more (crossbred) lambs arrive, there is marking & sale of the sucker lambs.
September sees the start of shearing & spraying of weeds.
In October we crutch crossbred ewes & Merino wethers. We also spray paddocks in preparation for cropping in the next season. In November we do more drenching prior to summer. The year ends in December. The harvesting of oats, weaning, jetting, dipping & sometimes drenching sheep is a daily chore. Prime lambs are also sold this month.
