Poachers Pantry, based on a farm nestled in the hills close to Canberra, is a gourmet smokehouse and a foodie's heaven!
The smoked meats are sold to some of Australia's finest chefs and are also available for you to try before you buy in the Smokehouse Cafe and Tasting Room. The Smokehouse Cafe is located in a old, lovingly restored weatherboard cottage that overlooks the 1890s-era slab woolshed. It is smart yet casual and has won awards for the quality of its food and service, as well as gaining a mention in the 2004 edition of the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Food Guide.
The farm also has its own vineyard, the Wily Trout. Its wines are available at both the cafe and tasting bar. The vineyard is young and is already winning medals, most recently being a trophy for its merlot at the Cool Climate Wine Show. Try the wines with samples of smoked meats or enjoy a meal at the cafe and experience for yourself the wonderful combination of these two award-winning products.
