Sturt Craft Centre

The Sturt campus incorporates studios, workshops and some teaching facilities for fine woodworking, ceramics, weaving and jewellery and metals. There is also a large retail crafts shop, an exhibitions gallery, a cafe and a guest accommodation unit.

Besides teaching in their specific discipline, students are encouraged to develop skills in photography in the well appointed photographic studio.

The complex stands on 4 1/2 hectares of beautiful gardens, much of which was designed and planted by Winifred West.

The Cafe has been a major feature in Sturt's recent development. It too has enhanced the community spirit and has attracted people who would otherwise be unaware of Sturt and its environs. It serves as a centre or meeting place for residents and students and other employees of Winifred West Company as well as the community at large and visitors to the area. The cafe also complements the many events that occur regularly at Sturt, namely exhibitions and special workshops during the year.

The Sturt Shop is a showcase for work produced by Sturt residents and selected craftspeople from throughout Australia. Please visit our website for full details.
