Harden Murrumburrah Light Horse Memorial

Harden Murrumburrah Light Horse Memorial features a life-sized bronze Corporal of the 1st Australian Horse, a water-trough fountain, a memorial wall, and a garden which tells the story of the mounted troops of Australia.

Harden Murrumburrah was the site of the first call up muster to the 1st Australian horse in 1897. Several of those recruits served in the Boer War. From that time the local links to the Australian Light Horse have been strong. The leader of B Company on the Beersheba Charge was a Murrumburrah man and many served in WW2 with the Pack horse troop in New Guinea.

The memorial is the regular site for services of remembrance. The Murrumburrah Light Horse Troop can muster 12 mounted members who are in regular demand for re-enactments all over NSW.
