Cockington Green
Highly detailed miniature buildings and beautifully landscaped and colourful gardens are the features at Cockington Green, a unique and popular Australian Tourism Award winning tourist attraction. The display is highly acclaimed for its quality and uniqueness by both international and domestic visitors.
The original section of the display features meticulously crafted and detailed miniature buildings of Great Britain. Another display includes model buildings from around the world includes buildings from Indonesian, South Africa, Croatia, Venezuela, Norway, Argentina, Australia, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Slovenia, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The coming years will see the inclusion of many more buildings including Turkey, the European Union and the Phillippines.
The garden setting is a spectacular feature within the attraction, much attention is paid to ensure that the landscaping around each display compliments the building. Figurines, sound and movement are designed to bring life to each scene. Around 17,500 flowers are planted each season to provide
brilliant colour all year round.
The Rose Room Gallery is an indoor exhibition which includes 'Waverley', an ornate 34 room Georgian-style dollhouse. It also features a collection of model steam engines, a miniature bottle collection and superb wildlife paintings that are available for sale.
Facilities include a fully licensed indoor/outdoor Garden Cafe, picnic/playground area, free gas BBQs, Playtown, an interactive play area for young children and miniature steam-train rides.
Cockington Green is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the centre of Canberra.
