Rumbalara Reserve

Rumbalara Reserve lies immediately to the east of Gosford City Centre. The magnificent tree covered slopes
are characteristic of the natural scenery encompassing Brisbane Water.
Extensive views of the entire Brisbane Water, Barrenjoey Lighthouse, North Gosford, Wyoming and the rural
lands of Gosford can be experienced from the various lookouts located in the reserve. The focus of the park
is on recreation. Facilities include picnic sites, scenic lookouts and walking trails.

The name Rumbalara commemorates the original inhabitants of the area, an Aboriginal word for rainbow or
an expression of something picturesque. It is the home of many creatures including blue tongued lizards,
tree snakes, brush tailed possums, birds and butterflies. There are bronze sculptures of the famous
explorers Charles Sturt, Matthew Flinders and Edward Eyre and of Charles Kinsford Smith.
