Moodys Wines
Characteristic of some of the vineyards in Orange, Moody’s is very small and very specialised. Beset with frosts, drought, relentless summer sun and sub-Antarctic winter winds, Moody’s “Fontenay” vineyard produces a selection of honest, flavoursome Shiraz, with aromas collected from the annual weather and the special terroir. Reviewed as “showing real promise of great things”, the vintages show a range of fruit and spice aromas.
The cellar door is on the vineyard, open weekends, on Stagecoach Road, across the road from Mayfield, and you can vertically taste the various vintages, (2006, 2007 and, after December, 2008 available) and talk about wine growing at 900 metres, and four generations of the Moody family in the wine business.
