Macquarie Woods
The Forestry Commission of NSW established Macquarie Woods so people could learn as much as possible about trees.
It is situated on the Mitchell Highway midway between Bathurst and Orange. The amenities have been planned to make visitors feel welcome.
Four main areas have been set up to show how careful harvesting of wood can produce a substantial yield while maintaining the structure and ecological values of the forest.
Those areas are:
Heritage grove, Arboretum, Farm tree demonstration area and Demonstration forest
