Windamere Dam
Windamere Dam and Cudgeong Waters Park are situated 25 kilometres east of Mudgee, in the central west
New South Wales. The dam is named after the property on which it was built, and the Francis skinner bridge
commemorates the first settler, from whose descendants land was acquired for water storage purposes.
Cudgegong cemetery remains on a hill overlooking the lake, a reminder of the area's history.
The dam was completed in 1984 on the Cudgegong River in satisfy irrigation, stock and domestic
requirements. Golden perch, silver perch and small numbers of Murray cod were released in 1985, with
regular re-stockings since. Golden perch up to 10 kilograms have been landed and other species of fish
weighing up to 7 kilograms have been landed. A fishing competition is held every Easter. All water sports can
be done at Windamere Dam.
Visitors are welcome at the main wall embankment. Facilities at the dam include: Sturdy 2 lane concrete
boat ramp, amenities blocks, onsite vans and cabins with plenty of parking space. There are barbecue areas aand camping sites. Camping and fires are only permitted in the confines of the Cudgegong Waters Park.
The kiosk offers a large range of lures, as well as live bait. They also stock ice, gas and groceries.
