Wine Trail
In Hunter River Country wine lovers taste before they buy, stock up on what they like and discuss wine making with vignerons. Hunter Valley wines are known for their gutsy reds and full flavoured whites and regularly take out national and international wine awards. Just west of Lochinvar the trail takes a turn off the New England Highway to Lovedale where visitors can taste at a number of vineyards. Following through to Branxton Road and turning right, Pokolbin and Rothbury have many interesting wine stops. Further along the track at Branxton , there's a right turn onto the New England Highway and the road leads to Elderslie Road where there are further vineyards along the Hunter River to Luskintyre. Here there are boutique award winning wines. Heading back to Maitland Vale Road through Rosebrook, there's beautiful scenery.
