Sir Charles Kingsford Smith Memorial and Lookout

Affording panoramic views of Seven Mile Beach National Park and spectacular views of the coastline, the memorial (in the shape of the now famous aircraft), commemorates Sir Charles` historic flight in 1933 to New Zealand.

The beach was selected for this, his second flight across the Tasman, because it allowed a long, smooth take-off area for his heavy laden aircraft. A plaque is on display near the outline of his aircraft, the `Southern Cross.'
