Malabar Hill
Standing on Malabar Hill, you’ll have a beautiful vista of the entire island and beyond. To the south are the towering volcanic peaks of Mt Lidgbird and Mt Gower. Out to the north, across the ocean, are the Admiralty Islets. And 210 metres below are the bays and beaches of the east coast and the verdant undulating grasslands. The walk to the top starts near Ned’s Beach and is a little taxing. It passes through palm forests with mutton-bird burrows. As you ascend, you pass by trees twisted into strange shapes by the winds. Near the top, you’ll find the world’s largest nesting of red-tailed tropicbirds.
