Australian Standing Stones
The erection for the Australian Standing Stones in Glen Innes has been undertaken in recognition of the contribution made by peoples with Celtic origin in Australia, over the last 200 years. The site is to serve as a cultural gathering place for people from the Celtic Communities; the Irish, Welsh, Cornish, Scottish, Manx and Bretons. As such, this array has major historic significance.
Until now, there has been no single place anywhere in the world that is designated for the purpose of uniting all branches of Celtic Peoples.
Further to this, the focus for the future is towards the accurate recording and collating of the festivals and celebrations that mark the calendar of the Celtic communities. It is also designed to enable people, particularly the young, to learn and understand their Celtic heritage.
