Thunderbolts Rock

Originally known as split rock this huge cluster of granite rocks was used by the bushranger, Fred Ward (Captain Thunderbolt) as a vantage point for detecting approaching mail coaches in the 1860's. Climbing the rock has become a tradition and the view encompasses many kilometres.
On the New England Highway five kilometres south of Uralla, a must for all the Captain Thunderbolt enthusiasts.
