Werrikimbe National Park
The Werrikimbe National Park is located 90 kilometres from Walcha and 80 Kilometres from Wauchope, on the eastern escarpments of the Great Dividing Range.
The park covers 33,309 hectares.
The remoteness and size of Werrikimbe requires several days to fully explore. However, pleasant day trips can be undertaken from the towns of Armidale, Walcha, Port Macquarie and Wauchope to picnic facilities on the edge of the park. For those staying overnight or longer, basic camping facilities are provided at the rest areas - Mooraback and Brushy Mountain.
All access roads to the park are gravel, steep in places, and all have many twists and turns, as they snake through this rugged area.
A rich bio-diversity of plants and animals, extensive wilderness, excellent rainforests, wild and scenic rivers, are great for outdoor recreation.
