Bindea Walking Track

The Bindea Walking Track is a 22-km walk which can be subdivided into a series of shorter loops, taking in the commercial and residential sections of town, the Porcupine Reserve, Porcupine Lookout and Avards Lookout. Kangaroos, wallaroos and koalas are often seen at the reserve late in the afternoon

Bindea Walking Track was designed and constructed by Tamworth Lands Office in association with Gunnedah Shire Council. Located within and adjacent to Gunnedah, the track offers a range of different walks of various lengths. These walks may be commenced and finished at either the Anzac Park Trackhead or the Porcupine

Trackhead. Points of interest include the Dorothea Mckellar commemorative statue, the Water Tower Museum, Arthur Heath Park, Gunnedah Aged Care Centre, Koala Area, Kangaroo Viewing Point, Avards Lookout, Porcupine Reserve, Porcupine Lookout and Stock Road.

The Tower Walk is 2.9 kilometres long and the Porcupine Walk is 4.5 kilometres. Bindea, "the place where shrubs look like porcupine quills", was the name given the ridges south east of Gunnedah.

A self-guided walk map is available from the Gunnedah Visitors Centre.
