Gibraltar Range National Park
Gibraltar Range National Park is situated on 25,407 hectares. The national park is on the Gwydir Highway, 79 Kilometres from Glen Innes and 104 kilometres from Grafton.
The strength and character of this rugged range are felt immediately its immensity is sighted. It is a park of contrast, of giant granite tors and grass trees standing in silhouette with waratahs and ferny creek cascades. Above the ridges, eagles circle in silence, soaring around the mountains.
Access to the main visitor facilities in Gibraltar Range National Park is via Mulligan's Drive which leaves the highway adjacent to the visitor information centre (not manned by ranger).
Mulligan's Hut Picnic Area, nine kilometres from the highway, provides basic picnic facilities. A camping area is located nearby with basic facilities including cold showers, pit toilets, barbecues, picnic sites and shelter shed. A series of walking tracks begins near the Hut. Picnic facilities are also provided at the hakea, dandahra, platypus and raspberry picnic areas.
