Kwiambal National Park
Kwiambal, pronounced Kigh-am-bal, is in the traditional lands of the Kwiambal Aboriginal people of the Ashford District. Rich in water, food and materials, the area provided a year round living for their ancestors.
On the junction of the Macintyre and Severn rivers west of Ashford, it has spectacular river gorges, huge granite boulders and a rolling landscape of rugged hills.
Lemon Treet Flat is a delightful camping spot beside the Severn River. Picnic tables, fireplaces, a toilet and a wet weather cooking shelter are provided. Six medium sized caravan sites are also available.
Macintyre Falls allow great views of Kwiambal National Park from the lookout platform provided. Nearby you will find the Limestone Caves which have rare bats and limestone formations. It is appreciated if access to the caves is restricted to September-October and March-April to cause the least disturbance during breeding and hibernation of the bats.
Kwiambal is a great place for bush walking, camping and picnic facilities are available at both the Macintyre Falls and Limestone Caves.
Roads in Kwiambal are unsealed but suit conventional vehicles of all sorts.
