Wigay Aboriginal Culture Park
A visit to the Wigay Aboriginal Culture Park will leave you with a unique cultural experience, and an understanding of the Dunghutti people (also known as Dainggatti) – the local Aboriginal people of this area.
You will be greeted upon arrival by your guide for the day who will then escort you to our large undercover shelter shed. Here Richard* our main guide will give a didgeridoo demonstration and describe how they were used and made. If Goorie* is on duty he will enthral one with his gum leaf renditions of some classic songs and bird imitations. This is very interactive and often has you laughing as you participate in trying to play these instruments. After this you will go on a short walk and learn how aboriginal people used some of the numerous plants growing in the park for food medicine or shelter.
The park has a small shop where aboriginal gifts and souvenirs’ can be purchased as well as a bush tucker nursery with over 50 different plants that are growing in the park for sale.
Tour takes 1 hour. Bookings are essential and minimum of 4 people applies. For groups of 15 or more, morning tea of freshly baked damper with golden syrup and a cup of lemon myrtle billy tea is included in the tour price.
*Richard and Goorie's appearances are based on availability for groups.
