Tanilba House

The most fascinating house in Port Stephens.

Built in 1831 by Lt. Caswell using convict labour, Tanilba House is one of the
oldest historical homes in Australia. The house has extensive water views, and
the wide verandahs with their cooling breezes provide the perfect opportunity
to take in those views.

If you visit in winter you can sit around a cosy open fireplace, there is even
a friendly ghost in residence. Furnished in period style and with a
fascinating past, the guided tour provides an insight into the history of this
grand old house. Tea, coffee or a soft drink is included in the price,
devonshire teas and light lunches are also available.
