Mobbs Bay
Near the mouth of the Richmond River, Mobbs Bay is a deep indentation in the south bank which is now protected by the South Ballina wall. Mobbs Bay is a great family picnic, swimming and fishing spot at low tide and access is provided by short tracks from the road.
Mobbs Bay is also a good spot to watch waders feeding at low tide and roosting at high tide. There is also an Osprey nest on the provided pole which is used regularly by the resident pair. Tall timber and roadside bushes provide habitat for a wide variety of birds including the Darter, Striated Heron, Whistling Kite, Brahminy Kite, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Whimbrel, Eastern Curlew, Common Greenshank, Terek Sandpiper, Black-winged Stilt, Mangrove Gerygone and the Eastern Whipbird.
