South Ballina Beach and South Break Wall
Stroll for hours along the vast expanse of South Ballina Beach and lose yourself in its natural splendor. For the angler the beach fishing is legendary, as is the surf. There is 4WD access, plus dogs are permitted without a leash, but effective control is required.
See dolphins at play offshore and humpback whales migrating between June and October. Plus gallop along the white sandy beach and crystal clear water on horseback.
For bird lovers, South Ballina Beach is a haven for sea and shore birds including some rarities in rough weather. Birds seen include Short-tailed and Wedge tailed Shearwaters, Pied Cormorants, Bar-tailed Godwit, Sanderling, Red-necked Stint, Pied and Sooty Oyster-catches, Gull-billed Tern, Caspian tern and Little Tern Grey Ternlets have been recorded during rough weather.
