Susan Island
Susan Island lies adjacent to Grafton's main street and Memorial Park. The northern end is covered by rainforest and houses the largest fruit bat colony in the southern hemisphere. The colony provides a sensational sight each summer on dusk, as it departs in search of food.
A walking track with interpretive signs is provided in the rainforest.
The southern section has barbecues, picnic areas and toilet facilities.
Private boat is the only access available to Susan Island.
During the school holidays, some festivals and public holidays, National Parks and Wildlife Service run State Emergency Service boats to cater for people wanting to see the nature reserve and take part in the discovery walks, talks, and tour programs provided by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
