Yuraygir National Park
Yuraygir National Park lies between the villages of Angourie and Red Rock and situated on 20,285 hectares. Encompassing large swathes of undisturbed coastal land, the park is a haven for wildlife and for people who enjoy an uncrowded natural coastal setting. Spectacular pockets of white sand beach dot the coastline between numerous headlands and magnificent waterways.
There are six visitor areas in the park, each fringed by beautiful, natural coastal vegetation:
Mara Creek and Angourie Bay Picnic Area south of Angourie is home to the world famous Angourie surf break and the Angourie walk which hugs the coastline for 10 kilometres south to Lake Arragan.
Redcliff Camping Area and Sandon River Camping Area near Brooms Head offer two unique settings that are fabulous for enjoying activities on our coastal waterways and wildlife watching.
Illaroo Camping Area north of Minnie Water is nestled against Sandon Beach and is a lovely treed area great for family camping.
Other visitor areas are located at Wilson’s Headland near Wooli and Station Creek, north of Red Rock.
Each area is accessed from separate locations along the Pacific Highway, with some sections of gravel road.
Seasonal ranger tours are provided.
Toilets, barbecues and picnic tables are located at rest areas.
No drinking water available. Camping ground is at Sandon River.
Hotel/motel accommodation at Wooli, Yamba and Maclean. Camping/caravan at Red Rock, Wooli Minnie Water, Brooms Head and Yamba.
