Lismore Visitor Information Centre
The award-winning Lismore Visitor Information Centre is much more than a Visitor Centre - it's an experience. The centre's aim is to be a link between
visitors and the rich source of environmental, cultural and economic resources in Lismore and the Northern Rivers.
As Lismore is on the doorstep to spectacular rainforest, the centre features an Indoor Rainforest, which takes up half the area of the building. It was
designed to give visitors a taste of what they will find in the region.
It has a waterfall, animated platypus, videos and models of native flora and fauna and displays telling the story of the sometimes controversial history
of some of the rainforest areas.
The forest leads to an entertaining historical display, featuring videos, old photographs and information stands.
The other half of the centre's floor space is taken up by an internet cafe and cultural gallery, offering internet access to travellers ($6.00/hour) or the pick of original works by local arts and crafts people and a wide variety of local produce.
The centre is located in Heritage Park, which features a Tiny Tots Adventure Park with swings, rides and a miniature train. Also a skate ramp and
barbecues, picnic tables, a playground for older children and toilets are located on this site.
Bus and coach parking available. Groups are welcome to visit The Rainforest Experience.
Entry to the Indoor Rainforest by donation to Koala Care Centre.
