Byron Bay Microlights
Come and try microlight flying, one of the greatest adventure experiences you will ever have. Microlight flying is the fastest growing recreational sport in the world. It is also very safe, hugely exciting and incredibly spectacular.
Based at Tyagarah Aerodrome near Byron Bay, Byron Bay Microlights is a recently established microlight flying school. We offer a menu of introductory air experience flights (trial flights) to suit every budget and also provide full microlight pilot training courses leading to the Microlight Pilot's Licence for recreational purpose.
For anyone wishing to go further it will be the first step into general or commercial aviation career. For our trial flights and flying training we use CASA approved Arborne microlights, powered by Rotax engines.
At Tyagarah we are lucky enough to have a 1,000m grass runway with dawn to dusk flying amidst beautiful countryside in quiet, uncluttered airspace. We are on the coastline within a few minutes' flying time of famous Byron Bay and Mount Warning.

Byron Beaches and Headland's FlightThis is the best way to see Byron Bay and surroundings from the air and it is the perfect introduction to the aviation sport of flying microlight! From Tyagarah airfield, first we will fly over Bangalow than we will turn to the coastline and Seven Mile Beach. Then we fly over the water along Broken Head National Reserve, Tallow Beach, Cape Byron, the famous lighthouse and Main Beach before landing back at Tyagarah. Duration: 45 minutes. We will supply an insulated flight suit for you and some warm clothing but if you feel more comfortable in your own bring them with you. Flights start from Tyagarah Airfield between 6am and 4.30pm. Pick up by car from Byron Bay by special arrangement. Flying is weather dependent. Please contact us to confirm flying conditions. Lighthouse FlightThis is the flight for those who just want to find out what flying is about and also to see Byron Bay and surrounds. It's a lovely scenic coastal flight to Cape Byron along Main Beach and around the lighthouse. Enjoy the view of Byron Bay and Tallow Beach whilst looking out for whales and dolphins along the way. Duration: 30 minutes. We will supply an insulated flight suit for you and some warm clothing but if you feel more comfortable in your own bring them with you.
