Fred Hollows Memorial

On February 17th 1993, Professor Fred Hollows was laid to rest in the red dirt of Bourke. Fred is best remembered for his very public work in Eritrea He
began his work with the Cataract Blindness among the Aborigines of the Bourke area, where today many see because of Fred. It was to Bourke that he wished to be returned when he died. Beside his grave is a monument carved from stonein memory of Fred Hollows. Fred Hollows was Australian of the year in 1992.
