SilvertonSilverton is situated about 25 kilomteres from Broken Hill where once this was a busy mining town, today its a ghost town, but its brought to life by the filming of movies such as Mad Max2- Razorback- Town Like Alice- Dirty Deeds and many commercials that have been filmed in the area, we visit the Mundi Mundi Plains and the Umberumberka Reservoir. Visit the Old Silverton Goal (This museum is one of the best collections of yester year you will be seen anywhere in Australia.) We have a look at the old Silverton School where Mary Jane Gilmore, (who is featured on our $10 note) taught. Visit the Galleries of Peter Brown and John Dynon Inspect the Coin Carvery, have a bite to eat or a coldie at the Silverton Hotel you will see photos of the actors of all the films, and the names of the hotel when it was used in different films. We also visit the Horizon gallery and the Sydney Kidman Butcher Shop. Take in the Penrose Park where all of our ancestor once picnic in the early days, then we head home to Broken Hill in time for a rest or another tour. | |
