Hay Wetlands Nature Reserve

Hay Wetlands Nature Reserve is a water bird sanctuary and breeding ground. The array of water birds are best seen either at dawn or dusk, especially in springtime when the birds nest.

The Hay Shire Council has developed breeding islands, tree planting, and viewing platforms and dam building have taken place over the past 8 years. Species list incorporating over 117 birds is available from the Hay Visitor's Centre. There is also easy walking trails along the river banks to view the birds
