Shopping in Sydney City
Sydney City offers everything for everyone! With over 12 malls and arcades, major shopping centres and streets lined with opportunities to divulge in retail therapy, Sydney City is the place to go.
Start at the top end of town and high-class fashion along Castlereagh Street where the big names are: Hermes, Versace, Chanel, Bvlgari and Cartier, along with Australian fashion doyen Carla Zampati. Walk towards the harbour, and the elegant boutiques of Chifley Plaza including Tiffany & Co, MaxMara, Bruno, and Magli or turn down King Street for Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, AJX Armani Exchange, Bally and Paspaley Pearls – often said to be the world’s most beautiful.
Pitt Street Mall is Australia's busiest and most cosmopolitan shopping precinct. With eight different retail centres and more than 600 speciality stores within two city blocks you're almost certain to find something to fit your style and budget.
The network of malls and arcades, many of them underground or above it offer more opportunities to spend. Glasshouse, Imperial Arcade, Mid City Centre, MLC Centre, Piccadilly, Skygarden, Westfield Centrepoint and the Galeries Victoria will keep you occupied with almost every label, and every trinket covered. Equally important is the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) with five levels of modern retail shopping housed in a lovely example of 19th century architecture, and The Strand Arcade. Built in Victorian Sydney, The Strand Arcade is home to many of Australia's top designers including Jayson Brunsdon, Allannah Hill, Zimmermann, Bettina Liano, Akira, Third Millennium, and Dinosaur Designs and offers a treasure trove of eclectic design, antiques, jewellery and gifts.
The well known department stores Myer and David Jones offer a haven for retail therapy as well. David Jones offers a comprehensive range of leading Australian and international brands such as Bvlgari, Armani Collezioni, Jil Sander, Collette Dinnigan, Chanel and Christian Dior just to name a few. Myer, located in the Sydney Central shopping centre also offers a range of Australian and international brands in fashion, perfume and homewares.
