Garrison Point

In 1795, just seven years after the first settlement at Sydney Cove, Matthew Flinders and George Bass, were sent by Governor Hunter to explore the 'western arm' (Georges River) of Botany Bay to see if the area was hospitable. The trio sailed the winding course of the Georges River 20 miles beyond any previous survey and landed at what is now known as Garrison Point

Today Garrison Point is an ideal picnic ground. Set on the waterside, with trees for shelter, ponds, ducks, and all the facilities needed for a pleasant visit including disabled access and toilets
