Nepean Dam

The completion of the Nepean Dam in 1935 concluded the development of the Upper Nepean catchment. The Dam still supplies Sydney, via Prospect Reservoir, as well as the townships of Bargo, Picton, Tahmoor, Thirlmere and The Oaks. However, it is now also connected to the Avon Dam to supplement water supplies for the Illawarra Region and can receive additional water from the Shoalhaven Scheme. The 81 metre high dam holds water from a 320 square kilometre catchment, forming a lake of 325 hectares with a capacity of 70,170 megalitres.

Facilities include picnic and barbecue areas (barbecues are wood and electric), free barbecue wood, free boiling water, shelter sheds, toilets (baby change facility available), playground for children and viewing areas.
