Boomali Aboriginal Art Gallery
Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative is the only Aboriginal owned and operated contemporary art space in Sydney.
Boomalli has approximately 40 artists locally, regionally and from around Australia who present works in a contempory way. Boomalli holds 8 exhibitions a year focusing on the promotion, marketing, and education of urban Aboriginal contemporary arts. To find out more on the exhibitions, go to: www.boomalli.org.au
Interesting to Note:
The word Boomalli is taken from 3 Language/tribal groupings still in existence in NSW today the Gamailerio, the Bundgulung and the Wiradjuri. Boomalli is translated as "To strike; to make a mark". Making a mark is not only about art, it is about expressing a repressed voice within the history of Australia.
