Parramatta Heritage Centre and Visitor Information Centre

Parramatta Heritage & Visitors Information Centre provides a unique starting point for discovering Parramatta - the city that tells the story of Australia! The Centre combines tourist information; a local
research and family history library, art, history or community exhibitions; school holiday programs and education activities all under one roof.

As part of your visit why not take in Parramatta: People & Place - an exhibition about the living heritage of Parramatta, featuring artefacts, artworks, oral histories, video and interactive technology. The exhibition traces the development of Parramatta through the experiences of Indigenous Australians, colonial personalities, and families of diverse cultural backgrounds who have all contributed to shaping the culture and landscape of the area.

Ask the Centre's friendly staff for advice on how to explore Parramatta: Sydney's Living Museum. Choose from a dozen different walking trails that will lead you to Parramatta's historic houses, cemeteries, parks and waterways. Staff can also assist with information about accommodation, meetings and conference venues, restaurants, entertainment and shopping.

The Riverside Walk Featuring the work of Aboriginal artist Jamie Eastwood, the Walk tells a colourful and challenging history of the Parramatta River from the perspective of the Darug people. The painted trail links the Charles Street Ferry Wharf with the Parramatta Heritage & Visitors Information Centre.

Local Research Library is open 10.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Wednesday & Friday, 10.00am to 8.00 Thursday, 10.00am to 4.00pm Saturday & Sundays.
