Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout

The Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout is open to the public daily.

Come and see the fantastic views of the city, the harbour and the world famous icon - the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

There are 200 stairs to the Pylon Lookout, 87 metres above mean sea level, but on the way up there are 3 levels of exhibits where you will discover the history and construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the men who built it, and the vision of JJC Bradfield, chief engineer.

The Pylon Lookout offers magnificent views of Sydney Harbour, Botanical Gardens and the surrounding areas. On a clear day you can see as far as the Blue Mountains.

The Pylon Lookout not only provides one of the best views of the city of Sydney, but also features a series of exhibits where you will discover the history of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Displays on all levels, and a short documentary video, provide a unique insight into the past and present of Sydney's celebrated Harbour Bridge.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is the world's largest (but not longest) steel arch bridge, and, in its beautiful harbour location, has become a renowned international symbol of Australia. The Bridge is 134 metres high, 502 metres long, 48.8 metres wide and weighs 52 800 tonnes. The Sydney Harbour Bridge was constructed between 1923 and 1932. It's nickname is 'the coathanger'.
