Asian Language Tours

The Asian Spotlight Tours are the only official tours of Sydney Opera House with Korean, Mandarin and Japanese-speaking guides. You will be taken to places inside the House, where others can't go. See inside the world's most recognisable sails. Offering superb value for those with limited time, you will receive the absolute essentials. Get the full picture – not just a photo! You'll receive a warm welcome from a knowledgeable guide. Enjoy a brief commentary about the history and the miracle of architecture and engineering that is Sydney Opera House. You'll visit one of the major venues – either the world-famous Concert Hall or the Opera Theatre – before visiting the foyer, offering unique views of the stunning Sydney Harbour. Duration: Approx. 30 minutes Mandarin: Departs daily at 9:30am, 10:15am, 11:00am, 11:45am, 1:45pm, 2:30pm, 3:15pm and 4:00pm Japanese: Departs daily at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 4:00pm Korean: Departs daily at 11:00am, 11:45am, 2:30pm and 3:15pm. There are alternate times available for pre-booked tours.

Backstage Tour

This intimate tour grants you exclusive access to areas normally reserved for the stars and their crew. You will visit the backstage areas of one of the busiest performing arts centres in the world as it prepares for the upcoming performances. Stand on the Concert Hall stage where some of the world's performing legends, such as Dame Joan Sutherland, Blondie, Pavarotti and Australian Idols, have stood. Take up the conductor's baton in the Opera Theatre orchestra pit. Peek inside the stars' dressing rooms. And hear about the secrets and real-life dramas that go on behind the curtain. Includes a full breakfast in the Green Room*, private domain of performers and staff. *The Green Room is not open on Sundays or Public Holidays. A continental breakfast will be served at an alternative venue. The Backstage Tour includes up to 300 steps. Flat, enclosed rubber soled shoes are recommended. High Tea

Under the world's most famous sails, there is an elegant dining room boasting spectacular views of Sydney's city skyline, the Royal Botanic gardens and a sparkling harbour. Australia's celebrated chef, Guillaume Brahimi, has created a sophisticated High Tea in quintessential Sydney style. You will be welcomed with a glass of fine Australian sparkling wine, a selection of stylish sandwiches, an assortment of beautiful teas and exquisite pastries and petit fours. The highlight of this perfect Sydney afternoon is a private performance by an acclaimed opera singer, who will leave you simply entranced. You will experience an intimate rendering of celebrated opera classics. It is the combination of music, the finest cuisine and the ambience of this extraordinary building that makes this a truly unique Sydney Opera House experience. Bookings are essential.

Japanese One-Hour Tour

Due to overwhelming demand, the Sydney Opera House has created a one-hour variation of the Japanese Spotlight Tour. This tour allows you to delve a little deeper and see more if you have the time. Experience this miracle of architecture and engineering. Duration: 1 hour Departs: Daily at 2:45pm Bookings are not essential. Visit the Guided Tours Desk (located upstairs in the Box Office Foyer) to book on the day.

Red Carpet - Tour, Dinner, Performance and Interval drink

The Essential Tour

See inside the world's most recognisable sails. Experience this miracle of architecture and engineering. A work of art that came into existence against impossible odds - to become one of the busiest performing arts centres in the world. Working with new, rich audio-visual components, where images are projected onto the fabric of the building - your guide will take you on an emotional journey, engrossing you in a story to rival any opera plot, with its dramatic twists and turns. You'll visit at least one of our venues - where live performances take place every day. Some 1,500 performances, from opera to circus, rock and cabaret, are staged each year to audiences of around 1.5 million. Duration: 1 hour English: Departs daily, every 30 minutes between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
