Holbrook Woolpack Inn Museum

Holbrook was once called Germantion, named after German-born Johan Pabst who became the first licensee of The Woolpack Inn in 1840. In the first World War I fierce anti-German feelings required the renaming of the town. Renamed in December, 1914 after British Submarine Commander LT Norman Holbrook's extraordinary bravery provided Germanton's citizens with their answer.

Germanton was officially gazetted 'Holbrook' in 1915. A replica of his B11Submarine stands in Holbrook's Memorial Park and his Victoria Cross is displayed in the Woolpack Inn. There are 22 rooms from the 19th century era and 2 acres of gardens with wagons, coaches, a schoolhouse, and a blacksmiths shop on display.

The Woolpack Inn Museum (an old two storey hotel from yesteryear) comprises 22 rooms displaying a wonderful collection of items from the 19th Century. There are two acres of gardens with wagons, coaches, a schoolhouse and even a blacksmiths shop to take you back in time.
