Stanton And Killeen Vineyards
The Stantons have been producing wine in Rutherglen since 1875. The fourth generation winemaker J.C. Stanton established winery in 1925, where he was joined by his son-in-law Norman Killeen in 1953. Norman and his son, Christopher, is the present executive partners, Chris having taken over as
winemaker from his father in 1981.
Since 1968 a steady programme of Vineyard replanting and winery expansion has been in progress and the vineyard now includes the varieties Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Durif, Touriga, Rutherglen Brown Muscat and Tokay, which are used to produce a full range of table and dessert wines. These include the distinctive moodemere reds and the famous Rutherglen Muscats and Tokay Dessert wines. Continued expansion of the business has necessitated a further rebuilding programme in 1985-86. It has included a considerable expansion to the winery to give more working space and is a prelude to the installation of
more storage and new winemaking equipment.
The sales area has been completely rebuilt to enlarge its capacity to handle cellar door trade and includes new administration offices and mezzanine floor for display and entertainment.
Buses and group by appointment only.
