Deniliquin Historic Buildings
The streets of Deniliquin are home to some wonderful historic buildings.
Construction of the Court House on Poictiers Street commenced in December 1883, however it was not occupied until 1892. It has recently been painted in heritage colours and is surrounded by spacious grounds. The building is still in use today and is an impressive site by day or night.
The Multi-Arts Centre is also worth a visit, and is located on the corner of Edward and Cressy Streets. Formerly St Paul's Anglican church and Sunday school, the building was pending demolition until the community restoration committee came to its rescue. It is now a gallery and hall open for public use.
The three muses outside the arts centre, representing art, science and learning, have been restored to their former glory from the days when they graced the now expired school of arts.
The Police Inspector's Residence on Macauley Street has been restored and is now managed by the historical society. The residence contains an extensive display and historical record of Deniliquin and its people.
