You may like to climb to the heights of the canyon rim, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding desert. Alternatively, you can wander through the boulder strewn canyon floor. There will be a guided walk where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the flora, fauna, history and geology of this ancient and remarkable landscape.

Palm Valley 4x4 Day Tour

On the way to Palm Valley, you'll visit Hermannsburg Historic Precinct, see the gallery of the famous Aboriginal watercolourist, Albert Namitjira before driving along the ancient Finke River bed to an amazing oasis of palms and cycads. Pause for lunch before your guided walk to Kalaranga Lookout and the Amphitheatre and then enjoy a stroll through Cycad Gorge. See the spectacular colours of the West MacDonnell Ranges, as you relax on your journey home.

West MacDonnell Ranges Tour

See the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges on this tour departing from Alice Springs. You'll visit the grave of Rev John Flynn, founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Standley Chasm, a striking rock cleft rising 80 metres. At Ellery Creek Big Hole you can enjoy a refreshing dip, before moving on to view the colourful walls of the Ochre Pits. After pausing at Ormiston Gorge for lunch, take a short stroll down to the gorge at Glen Helen, a permanent waterhole and stopover for migrating waterbirds. This tour is an excellent way to experience the outback.
