WWII - 4RSU Camp at Pell Mell

Adelaide River played a crucial role in the defence of Northern Australia throughout World War II. Pell Mell is a private property encompassing Pell wartime airstrip, where the 4 Repair and Service Unit (4RSU) were stationed. On this guided, self-drive tour you journey along a well made World War II roadway in your own vehicle, to the heritage-listed site where the 4RSU camp is still visible. Short walks amongst the remaining significant infrastructure and substantial artefact collection provide a sense of life for the personnel stationed here.
