The Stockyard Gallery
A worthwhile stop in Mataranka, The Stockyard Gallery offers a unique Territory experience. Delicious Devonshire teas, light snacks and mango fruit smoothies are served in the shady tea garden. Local paintings and sculptures, as well as Aboriginal artefacts, Territory books, gifts and souvenirs are for sale in the gallery and there is a great deal of information on the history of this interesting area, made famous by the book We of the Never Never. A four metre statue of one of the characters, the postman Henry Peckham, guards the premises.
