Lorella Springs
Because of its geographical position, its size (larger than some small countries) and up until recently its inaccessibility, Lorella Springs has remained one of the worlds most isolated, remote and untouched last frontiers.
This natural hot thermal spring, bubbling and cascading thousands of litres of water from a picturesque pandanus-lined rockhole, is the central feature of Lorella Springs Wilderness Park, a one million acre (4,000 square kilometres) outback cattle station situated 29 kilometres north of the Savannah Way. On the road between Roper Bar and Borroloola and accessible by four-wheel drive only, the springs are the head waters of the unspoiled Rosie River which winds about a hundred kilometres through rugged and spectacular terrain to eventually flow through to the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Lorella Springs Wilderness Park itself has over 100 kilometres of coastline, river systems, waterways, wetlands and swamps teeming with wildlife and huge escarpment chasms and gorges formed millions of years ago. A huge untouched property offering pristine fishing and remote wilderness adventure, the station has safari-style accommodation situated near the thermal spring, an airstrip and four-wheel drive tracks to discover the many hidden secrets of this area. There is much to see and do at your own pace and own degree of adventure.
