Sweetwater Pool
Sweetwater pool is a secluded swimming hole on the Edith River, ideal for swimming and relaxing. The Pool is located along a four kilometre walking trail from Leliyn / Edith Falls. It is also that last swimming spot, and usually lunch location, along the iconic Jatbula Trail. This 58 kilometre long distance walking trail is within Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge) and starts at Katherine Gorge and finishes at Leliyn / Edith Falls.
Early morning or late afternoon light at Sweetwater Pool provides stunning reflections across the still waters. There are plenty of flat ledges to warm yourself after a refreshing dip in the water. If you’re lucky you may see several species of turtle if you decide to camp the night.
Trekkers must register at the Nitmiluk Visitors Centre before starting the Jatbula Trail and deregister at Edith Kiosk upon return.
