Metro Arts delivers professional development for artists to achieve sustainable creative practice. It provides a unique combination of artistic programs, business skilling and facilities in a dynamic community environment. For 30 years, it has prominently supported artists and is recognised as Brisbane's centre for new and adventurous work.
Metro Arts' annual Artistic Program invests in early-career and established artists through its flagship programs, the Independents (performing arts) and the Galleries Program (visual arts). Applications are considered from artists who are committed to developing and presenting quality works.
The Artistic Program also supports an Artist in Residence, the NBC Capital-Artist in Residence, the NBC Capital-Metro Arts Scholarship artist and the Creative Development Festival.
Business skilling is provided by Metro Arts business development program, Biz Arts Makers, launched in 2003 to support the development of creative practices as sustainable businesses.
