Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre
Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre is a living showcase of the amazing wildlife diversity of south-east Queensland and provides an opportunity for visitors to see wildlife of the region up-close. Reptiles, frogs, mammals, fish and birds abound - presented in naturalistic exhibits which replicate their habitats in the wild.
Covering wildlife from the mighty Burnett River near Bundaberg, to the granite boulder - strewn ranges around Stanthorpe, this wildlife centre demonstrates that the people of south-east Queensland live in the midst of some highly important habitats and a multitude of species which depend on them. Some of these species thrive literally in their own backyards while others require the sanctuary of protected areas managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to ensure their survival.
Walkabout Creek leaves visitors with a new understanding of wildlife in south-east Queensland and the role of the people of the region need to play to ensure its continued existence.
