Queensland Sciencentre
Queensland’s much-loved Sciencentre is now located on Level 1 of Queensland Museum South Bank. Firmly ensconced amidst the many other wonders of the Museum, the Sciencentre offers hours of interactive, science-based fun for kids of all ages (including the ‘big kids’!) in a premium location.
The Sciencentre features three themed galleries: Body Zone, Earth Space and Action Stations.
The Body Zone gallery is all about the human body. It’s hands-on, body-on, as participants challenge, move, investigate, confuse and test their own body. There’s a load of fun and learning literally at everyone’s fingertips.
The Earth Space gallery is the place where participants immerse themselves in amazing facts about our Earth, solar system and universe. The clusters in this gallery help participants discover and better understand the many awesome events that shape our world and beyond.
Action Stations explores the marvels of science and technology in everything we do and in everything we use. This high-energy zone features wall-to-wall action featuring clusters such as Try it, Use it, Move it, See it and Hear it.
Show Zone continues the great tradition of science shows with presentations such as Blast Off, Crazy Chemistry Show, Slime Show, Unexpected Science Show and Science Magic. Entry to Show Zone is included in the ticket price and sessions operate weekends and school holidays. School groups can also enjoy a show as part of their visit.
Panels throughout the Sciencentre feature twelve outstanding Queensland Science Heroes. A Think Science space humanises science and highlights its beauty with multimedia and human stories as well as objects from the Museum’s own collection.
There are no ‘visitors’ at the Sciencentre – everyone is a ‘participant’. This place is a one hundred percent hands-on experience!
