Brisbane Forest Park
This huge Brisbane Forest Park, featuring scribbly gums and lush rainforest, sprawls over the hills at Brisbane's back door. Great lookouts, walking tracks and a dozen picnic areas are well within a 90 minute drive of the city.
Go on an early morning walk, enjoy a barbecue, take in the views over Samford Valley and listen to birdsong - all at Jolly's lookout (wheelchair accessible). See strangler figs and climbing vines on a short rainforest walk at Boombana. Enjoy views of Lake Wivenhoe on a scenic drive along Northbrook Parkway. From the park's information centre join a fun and informative Go Bush activity, or experience the wildlife displays featuring tawny frogmouths and other wildlife. Experienced navigators can hike to a remote, secluded campsite.
